Never forget a date again!

Make working from home a little more fun with a snazzy chalkboard for your office wall. Customised in bright colours, it makes a great memo board or calendar. A chalkboard you can write on with special chalk markers is also a great choice for a decorative family organiser in a hallway or kitchen. It’s easy to see why: if you change your plans, or if an event or appointment has to be postponed, you can simply wipe off the details with a damp cloth and update them. What’s more, with the ultra fine-tipped edding 4085 chalk markers by Securit, even the tiniest of entries will still be legible. Filled with liquid chalk, these markers have been specially formulated for use on all non-porous surfaces such as glass, mirrors and chalkboards. With a choice of 20 gleaming colours – including pastel, neon and metallic shades – designing and writing is a pleasure, and you can transform even the plainest chalkboard into a visual attraction.

Step-by-step

Step 1

Here you can see all the materials you need at a glance. Chalkboards come in a variety of shapes, but for this idea we chose square boards. For the design, we used edding 4085 chalk markers by Securit in a selection of vibrant colours.

Step 2

Before you start your design, you need to activate the edding chalk marker as follows: shake the marker vigorously with the cap still on, then remove the cap, place the nib on a piece of absorbent paper and carefully pump the marker up and down a few times until ink appears in the nib. Now you’re ready to get drawing. Do the same with the other colours as you go along. And after use, always replace the cap securely and store the marker horizontally.

Step 3

Starting with the chalk marker in the colour raspberry, draw two horizontal lines across each board to create three sections – one for each day of the week overall.

Step 4

Next, in neon orange or another preferred colour, write down the days of the week in the top left-hand corner of each section. If your design doesn’t work out first time, or you want to make changes, simply wipe it off with a damp cloth and start again. You can use different colours to make your design easier to follow. For example, you could use one colour for sports events and different ones for a video conferences or a doctor’s appointment.
