Give your plants a fresh new look

Spring is the perfect time to give your houseplants some extra TLC. Re-potting, removing dead growth and trimming back are just some of the jobs that might need doing. It's a great opportunity to completely rearrange your plants and revamp the pots at the same time! edding porcelain brush pens allow you to paint on white porcelain or ovenproof ceramic to your heart's content: big and bold, small and detailed, words or phrases - just whatever you fancy! In our example, we opted for subtle black for our greeting. Once you've finished painting, bake your pot in the oven to make your design permanent. Prior to baking, you can make corrections at any time with a little water and a damp cloth – you can even wash off the entire design and start again.

Step-by-step

Step 1

You can see all the materials you need at a glance in our photo. In our example, we used the porcelain brush pen in black. Our template is available for you to print out.

Step 2

For best results, first wash the containers in water and wipe over with methylated spirits. Thorough cleaning is essential in order to remove any invisible protective film applied during manufacture.

Step 3

First, draw the outlines of the motif before colouring them in. If you make a mistake, or you're not happy with your motif, simply wipe it off with a damp cloth or make corrections using a damp cotton bud. As long as the decoration hasn't been baked in the oven, it's still possible to make corrections at any time.

Step 4

Once you’ve finished decorating, leave the pot to dry for 15 minutes. Now bake your painted items for 25 minutes in a preheated oven at 160°C. Place the flowerpots on a cold oven shelf before sliding them into the oven. Leave in the oven to cool afterwards. After baking, the decoration will be dishwasher-proof.
