Set the tone with patterns of dots

It’s time to put an end to arguments over your favourite mugs! Thanks to edding porcelain brush pens, each member of the family or household can have their own personalised mug. The mugs are decorated - dot-by-dot - with a letter of the alphabet, and with a choice of 15 fabulous colours available, everyone can choose their favourite. The brush pens have a creamy consistency and allow uniform coverage without drops forming. Leave the paint to dry for a short time after decorating before fixing your design in a pre-heated oven. This will ensure that the paint is dishwasher-proof.

Step-by-step

Step 1

You can see everything you’ll need in this photo. The porcelain brush pens are available in lots of different colours, so choose your favourite! Firstly, print out the template.

Step 2

For a perfect finish, clean the mug with a cloth (or even better, wash it in the dishwasher) and wipe over with methylated spirit. Thorough cleaning will remove any protective layer from the porcelain that may have been applied by the manufacturer.

Step 3

Cut out your chosen letters, position them on the mug and briefly hold in place using your finger. Use the brush pen to outline the shape of the letter in the form of dots. Once you’ve finished, you can remove the template.

Step 4

Next, add more dots - tightly packed together - so that the letter becomes clearly visible. Dots can be applied more sparingly as you move outwards from the letter. If you make a mistake, simply wipe off the paint using a damp cloth or cotton bud. As long as the design has not been heat-fixed, you can still remove mistakes at any time.

Step 5

Once you’ve finished decorating, leave the paint to dry for 15 minutes before placing the mugs on a cold rack and heat-fixing in a pre-heated oven at 160°C for 25 minutes. Let them cool in the oven afterwards. This will make your mugs dishwasher-proof.
