Make back-to-school more fun

A to-do list is more than just practical – it can also be incredibly creative and even environmentally-friendly all at the same time! This craft idea helps you keep a regular eye on your study deadlines and is designed with sustainability in mind. We used empty toilet roll tubes to make the ice creams (one for every day of the week) and coloured them in using vibrant highlighters. But not just any old ones – we chose edding EcoLine highlighters, which are eco-friendly through and through. Instead of plastic, over 90% of the raw materials used in the manufacture of these markers is renewable. Likewise, when it comes to writing and adding finer details, you can simply choose a "green" permanent marker from the same series. These are made primarily from recycled plastics sourced from post-consumer plastic waste.

Step-by-step

Step 1

For this project, you'll need the edding 24 EcoLine highlighters and a black edding 25 EcoLine permanent marker. First, cut the cardboard tube in half across the middle and cut the top edge into a rounded shape so it looks like an ice cream. Using the leftover pieces of cardboard, make the lolly stick and glue it on. Now grab the super-bright highlighters and decorate your ice lollies however you like, letting your imagination run wild!

Step 2

In our example, each ice cream represents a day of the week. To see all your dates and deadlines at a glance, simply write them on the shapes and draw cute faces on the others. Finally, attach all the ice creams to the cord and hang up your garland in a prominent place. Use an arrow to mark what day of the week it is.
