Step-by-step
Step 1
Gather all your materials before you start. First, remove the labels on the beer bottles. You’ll find the edding label removal marker really useful for this. Simply coat the label and any sticky residue with the label remover oil and let it soak in for a while. After a short time, the label will be easy to peel off. Wash the bottles clean before you start spraying.
Step 2
Cover your surrounding work area carefully with the protective sheet. Our Spray basics section gives you useful tips on how to achieve perfect results. Start by shaking the spray can for 3 minutes, then remove the sprayhead and prise off the safety ring with the aid of the screwdriver.
Step 3
Since you’ll only be spraying the lower half of the bottle, mask the upper part carefully with film and stick down securely. We recommend spraying at a distance of 25 cm, using horizontal and vertical strokes to ensure a more even coverage. Wait approx. 30 mins until the paint is completely dry before you start writing.
Step 4
Before using a gloss paint marker, you need to activate it as described here. Using the fine-nibbed edding 780, sketch out your chosen wording. Our example shows “Cheers” and the names of the bridal couple underneath. Now use the edding 751 with the slightly broader nib to reinforce individual strokes and give them a calligraphic effect.
Step 5
To finish your DIY labels, use the edding 780 gloss paint marker to write the name of the bridal couple or the name of each guest. Well done, you’ve now finished your beer bottle decoration – cheers!
