Step-by-step
Step 1
Make sure you have all the materials you need before you start. For this idea, you’ll need the new trend colours neo mint (colour code 939), pastel rose (914) and champagne gold (940). Remove the bottle label, including any sticky residue. Wash the bottle or glass vase thoroughly.
Step 2
Divide the self-adhesive paper into evenly-sized triangles and cut them out. You can change the appearance of the vase by varying how pointed you make the cut-out triangles (see main photo).
Step 3
Using masking film, carefully cover the upper section of the vase where you don’t want to apply any paint. A practical tip is to use pre-taped masking film which comes with a self-adhesive edge.
Step 4
Next, stick on the triangles all the way round as neatly as possible. Once you’ve done this, the only areas still exposed should be the ones that are to be sprayed. You should also use film or a protective sheet to completely cover your work area.
Step 5
In our Spray basics section, we’ve got handy tips to help you achieve the perfect spraying technique. Shake the spray can for 3 minutes, remove the sprayhead and prise off the safety ring with the aid of the screwdriver. For smaller areas, we recommend you spray at a distance of around 25 cm, using a continuous spiral motion to ensure that the paint covers more evenly. To prevent drips forming, use rapid strokes and don’t spray too long in one spot.
Step 6
Let the paint dry for about 30 minutes, then carefully remove the adhesive tape and film. And voilà! Your new flower vase bottle decoration is finished!
