Step-by-step

Step 1
You can see everything you need at a glance in our photo. In our example, we chose porcelain brush pens in black (colour code 001), red (002), green (004), yellow (005), brown (008), pink (009), light blue (010) and light green (011). The design template can be downloaded from our “Templates” section; simply print it out and keep it to hand for copying.

Step 2
For best results, start by washing the bowl with water and wipe over with methylated spirits. Thorough cleaning is essential in order to remove any invisible protective film applied during manufacture.

Step 3
To copy the motif, place the mole template next to your work area. Start with the brown outline, but before moving onto the next colour, always allow a little time for the first one to dry. Next, draw some tufts of grass on top of the molehill. Add a few sprigs of green leaves before colouring the hill in brown. For the mole, start with a black outline and add the yellow swimming goggles before colouring the rest of the body in black. Now all that’s missing are some blue raindrops inside the burrow. If you make a mistake, simply wipe it off with a damp cloth or cotton bud. You can continue to make corrections right up until it goes into the oven and the design is then heat-fixed.

Step 4
When you’ve finished decorating, let the ink dry for 15 minutes. Preheat the oven to 160°C, place the painted bowl on a cold oven shelf, slide it into the oven and bake for 25 minutes. Leave in the oven afterwards to cool down.

Step 5
After baking, the decoration will be dishwasher-proof. Finally, place the cress inside – and don’t forget to water it!
