Step-by-step

Step 1
For the design, you will need the following acrylic products: fine edding 5300 acrylic markers in black, warm beige, traffic white and neon yellow, a medium edding 5100 acrylic marker in sunny yellow and the edding acrylic and oil pad (format: A4). Before you start to draw, activate the acrylic markers as follows: shake the marker with the cap on until you can hear the mixing balls rattle inside the marker, then carefully pump the nib up and down until ink appears in the tip. Test the marker first on a piece of scrap paper.

Step 2
First, gently trace out your design using a pencil. If you really want to play it safe, we recommend you create a template and transfer the motif or lettering using carbon paper. Simply try out different fonts and styles. You can even combine different styles to achieve a nice overall look. Use the black acrylic marker to go over the text and accentuate specific letters.

Step 3
Colour in the cat with the sunny yellow marker and leave to dry. Next, go over the sunglasses, whiskers and nose. If the ink is not completely dry, the colours will mix so let each colour dry thoroughly before applying the next one.

Step 4
Outline the cat’s tail using the neon yellow acrylic marker as an extra touch.
