Step-by-step
Step 1
Make sure you select a calligraphy nib that suits the size of your headline. For example, the 5 mm nib is not particularly ideal for very small headings. We recommend you do a few practice runs on a sheet of paper first. If you want to delve deeper into the art of calligraphy, we recommend our calligraphy training.
Step 2
Here, we show you how to design a monthly heading in different font styles. For example, purely in upper case or lower case, or using really stretched-out letter spacing.
Step 3
The 2 mm nib width gives smaller fonts lots of expression, as you can see here in our example which shows the days of the week. Again, this gives you the chance to combine various writing styles to great effect.
Step 4
If you write out a selection of pre-defined headline styles and keep them to hand at all times, all you need to do is transfer them into your journal as and when required.
