Step-by-step

Step 1
In our example, we’ve used the fine edding 5300 acrylic markers in silver, black, gold and white, as well as permanent spray in silver. Round, smooth pebbles are best for painting.

Step 2
Before you begin, wipe the pebbles with a damp cloth and leave to dry. Next, activate the markers: shake each marker with the cap still on until you can clearly hear the mixing balls inside, then pump the marker up and down carefully until ink appears in the tip. Before you start to decorate the stones, test the acrylic marker on a piece of paper first.

Step 3
Think of a suitable, easy motif. Two hands or a “pocket hug” will let you creatively express a heartfelt embrace that will live long in the memory.

Step 4
With the fine acrylic markers, all manner of patterns, motifs and words are possible. Most of the acrylic paints provide excellent coverage, meaning that even dark stones can be painted to great effect.

Step 5
If you want to give several pebbles as a gift, you can also present them on a small tray decorated with permanent spray. We’ve used acrylic paint spray in silver in our photo. To begin with, carefully cover the work surface with film or paper. Only half of the tray will be sprayed, so it’s really important that you carefully cover the rest of the tray with paper or film. In our Spray basics section, we offer important tips for the perfect spraying technique. Make sure the paint is completely dry before removing the paper.
