Step-by-step

Step 1
We recommend you first practise the words you want to write so you can see what layout you like best. Alternatively, you could pick a saying or motto and reproduce it using brush lettering. There are no set rules when it comes to brush lettering – anything goes. You can use a variety of fonts, such as script or block letters, narrow or broad letterforms. It’s a good idea to try out a range of styles beforehand.

Step 2
The edding 1340 brushpen allows you to create really beautiful, expressive fonts: to achieve the effect, apply pressure on the downstrokes and contrast these by making the upstrokes really light. Start by drawing guidelines to help keep all the letters the same height. Using the brushpen, add finishing touches in the form of shading or delicate decorative details such as borders, dots or motifs.
