Step-by-step
Step 1
In our example we’ve used the following products: edding permanent spray in moss green (904) and mellow mint (928) plus universal primer. However, there are many more spray colours to choose from, so just pick your favourite shades. We also used the edding 8850 carpenter pen.
Step 2
First, make sure you remove all the dust from the old drawers and gently sand them down. Drill two holes in the back of each drawer so that you can hang them on the wall later on.
Step 3
Cover your work surface well with film or paper before you start spraying. Shake the spray cans vigorously for about 3 minutes until you can clearly hear the mixing balls rattling around inside. Even if you pause for just a short while, always shake the spray again every time you resume. You might also want to check out the Permanent spray basics page on our website for handy tips on how to create the perfect spray finish. Apply an undercoat of universal primer to your drawer then allow to dry thoroughly.
Step 4
Once the undercoat is thoroughly dry, continue by creating your coloured look. As you can see in this photo, we used mellow mint. Once again, allow the paint to dry thoroughly.
Step 5
Now it’s time to apply the moss green spray paint. First, however, carefully mask off the areas of the drawers that you don’t want painted in moss green. In this photo, we’ve masked off the sides of the drawer and the interior.
Step 6
Once the paint is dry, carefully peel off the masking tape.
Step 7
Finally, attach the new shelf to the wall. If you use the carpenter pen, you can mark the right place on the wall.
Step 8
The long tip of the carpenter pen means that even difficult-to-access drill holes can be marked easily.
