A snowman with a surprise!

Money is always a popular gift - especially at Christmas time. If you’re looking for a creative gift idea that’s a little out of the ordinary, we’ve got just the thing for you! In this gift idea, the money is hidden within this framed picture featuring a snowman. The really neat thing about this snowman is that his white tummy has been coloured over using an edding chalk marker to conceal the banknote. The chalk can be easily wiped away completely using a damp cloth to reveal the gift.

Step-by-step

Step 1

You can see all the materials you need to design your money gift in this photo. We used a white edding 4095 chalk marker and a silver-coloured edding 1340 brush pen.

Step 2

Print out the image of the snowman in colour. Make sure you print it in a size that fits your picture frame. Next, cut out the snowman’s white tummy.

Step 3

Place the picture inside the glass frame and position the banknote in such a way that it is easy to see when looking at the picture frame from the front.

Step 4

Turn the picture frame over so that you are now looking at the front. First, activate your chalk markers as follows: shake the marker vigorously with the cap still on, remove the cap and press the tip of the marker up and down several times on a piece of absorbent paper until ink appears in the nib. After use, always make sure you put the cap back on properly and lay your markers flat. Once you’ve activated your chalk markers, colour in the snowman’s body until you can no longer see the banknote.

Step 5

You now need to design a mini pouch for the glasses cleaning cloth. Using the template, cut out the shape of the pouch and trace it onto the coloured card.

Step 6

Fold the mini pouch and glue the edges together – just as shown in the photo.

Step 7

You can make your money gift even more exciting by decorating the mini pouch using the edding 1340 brush pen to make it look really special. For example, you could add the inscription “Let it melt”. Place the glasses cleaning cloth inside the pouch and that’s it! Your money gift is ready.
