Step-by-step

Step 1
You will need the edding 15 Funtastics fibre pen for children with a fine nib. The template is ready to download – just print out two copies and off you go. You will need two copies of the flower – one for the picture and one to cut the petals out from.

Step 2
Go over the delicate lines in the template with the black felt pen to give them more impact.

Step 3
Now it’s time to brighten things up: colour in the petals on one of the templates using your favourite colours. Use the thin-nibbed pen to reach into all the corners and colour in everything accurately. Colour in the two hearts on the other copy of the template.

Step 4
Next, carefully cut out the brightly coloured petals.

Step 5
You can now write your messages on the other copy of the template. Why not title it, “Mummy, you are...”. On the blank petals, you can write heartfelt messages like “the best” or “the most loved”. Then apply glue to the centre of the flower and stick on the brightly coloured petals so that they can be lifted up to reveal the messages.

Step 6
Finally, stick the picture onto orange card using washi tape. Your Mother’s Day surprise is now ready!
