A decorative way to store Christmas biscuits

With Christmas just around the corner, we’re looking forward to spending cosy afternoons in the company of family and friends – and especially to sampling our first Christmas biscuits! We’re sure you’ll agree that the aroma of freshly-baked biscuits wafting through your home is totally irresistible. After cooling, biscuits should be kept in an airtight container. A metal tin is ideal. What’s more, you can make it really eye-catching by decorating it yourself. edding gloss paint markers are the perfect choice here, as their paint-like ink shows up beautifully on dark and smooth surfaces. As an alternative to snowmen and Christmas stars, we decided to decorate our biscuit tin with a space motif and a matching quote. Step-by-step

Step 1

For our biscuit tin decoration we used edding gloss paint markers in pastel rose (colour code 138), pastel blue (139), pastel yellow (135) and pastel green (137). You can download templates for both the quote and the space motifs from our website.

Step 2

Before using a gloss paint marker, you need to activate it: Shake the marker vigorously with the cap on, then remove the cap, place the nib on absorbent paper and pump it up and down gently a few times until ink appears in the nib. Now you’re all ready to get started. (And don’t forget to always store the marker horizontally after use.)

Step 3

First, decorate the lid by adding the quote using hand lettering. The best way is to place the template next to the tin and copy it one line at a time. We painted “Scotty” and “a cookie” in pastel blue, “beam me up” in pastel green and the remaining words in-between in pastel rose. To achieve a beautifully artistic overall effect, try accentuating individual letters and varying the letter size. The edge can be embellished with little stars.

Step 4

Now take the gloss paint markers and decorate the sides of the tin in whatever way you wish – stars, space ships or UFOs, for instance. Our space-themed template has lots of galactic symbols that you can trace over. Let your imagination take you to infinity and beyond!
