Step-by-step
Step 1
For best results, start by washing the crockery with water (a dishwasher is ideal for this) and wipe over with methylated spirits. Thorough cleaning is essential for removing any invisible protective film applied during manufacture. The porcelain brushpens are ready to use without the need to pump the ink, and the creamy consistency ensures an even distribution without any drips. Please note: only paint on the outer surface of the cup and leave a paint-free gap around the rim.
Step 2
Use the very flexible tip of the brushpen to create both very fine lines or broad brush strokes. We recommend first drawing the outline of your design using the brush-shaped tip of the pen before holding the pen flatter to colour in. Top tip: create delicate details such as dots easily with the fine brush tip. Don’t worry if you make a mistake, you can simply wipe it off with a damp cloth or a cotton bud at any time before the design is fixed by baking in the oven.
Step 3
Once the design is complete, leave it to dry for 15 minutes. Now place the painted cup on a cold oven rack, slide it into the oven and bake it in the pre-heated oven at 160°C for 25 minutes. Leave it in the oven to cool afterwards. After baking, your personalised espresso cups with their snazzy designs will be dishwasher-safe.
