Schritt für Schritt
Get all your materials ready before you start. You can see an overview of everything in our photo. We opted for permanent spray in glossy white.
First, wind the lengths of string around the jar. The different thicknesses will produce interesting effects later on when you do the spraying. By criss-crossing the string at different angles, no two jars will look the same. The paint won’t reach the covered areas so the candlelight can shine through the strips.
Cover your working area carefully with the protective sheet. You can find our essential tips for perfect spraying in the Spray basics section of our website. To start, shake the spray can for 3 minutes, then remove the sprayhead and prise off the safety ring with the aid of a screwdriver. Place the jars upside down and spray them all over. We recommend that you spray at a distance of around 25 cm, using steady horizontal and vertical strokes to ensure a more even coverage.
Leave the jars to dry thoroughly (approx. 1 hour). Once the paint is completely dry, carefully remove the string.
Take care not to smudge or remove the paint as you do this. Pop a tea light into each jar – and there you have it, your Halloween lanterns are finished!
