Hamburg's longest table for democracy
On 14 September 2024, over 100 different organizations set a strong signal for a diverse, open society with Hamburg’s longest table for democracy, diversity and cohesion at Rathausmarkt. It was also the closing event of the Hamburg Foundation Days. Together with the Stiftung :do foundation and their funding partners Schotstek, Medical Volunteers Int. and Leanonus, we were also there to set an example for diversity and democracy. The journey and challenges of refugees and migrants were brought to life at a long table. Visitors were able to express their dreams, fears and hopes in an artistic way using edding products. Numerous people took this opportunity to find out more about the foundation, exchange ideas and make a creative statement.
Hamburg’s longest table was covered by the longest tablecloth for democracy. Over 2,000 pupils from more than 25 schools designed a colorful 300m long tablecloth with their thoughts and messages on democracy, diversity and cohesion.
