Plant Pot Tower

Eyecatching ideas for your garden. Decorate your own plant stake with edding matt paint markers.

With spring and summer approaching, it is the perfect time to transform your garden into something that is sure to be admired. We know you are always looking for new ideas, so edding has got one for you: a decorative plant pot tower with three “floating” terracotta pots. They look particularly good in spring colours such as lilac, red or orange, and their arrangement makes them a real feast for the eyes.

To create your own lightweight decorative plant pot tower you will need:
  • Three or four light plant pots made from terracotta or clay.

  • The edding 4000 and edding 4040 matt paint markers in various colours. We recommend red, purple, white, orange and light blue. The markers are available in two different stroke widths. The edding matt paint marker (stroke width: 2-4 mm) is particularly suitable for colouring in larger areas. The edding matt paint marker with a stroke width of 1-2 mm is perfect for finer details such as outlines. Available in twelve different colour shades, the markers are perfect for producing simple bold designs directly onto the pots – such as small flowers.
  • Three or four plants.

  • A sturdy stainless steel metal rod/wooden stake that is not too thick.

Step-by-step instructions: How to decorate your plant pot tower professionally with small flowers using the edding matt paint markers:
  • Plant the flowers of your choice in a variety of colours in the terracotta pots. Bright spring blooms and herbs are both ideal.
  • Decorate the pots. We recommend that that you draw the larger petals with the wider-nibbed edding matt paint marker first, and then go round the flowers with the finer edding matt paint marker.
To help, we have included a template for the flowers in these instructions (You can also find them here).

  • Carefully push the metal rod/wooden stake through the centre of the terracotta pots. Angle the filled pots on the rod in such a way that they support each other. Push the metal rod/wooden stake deep down into the soil to ensure a secure hold and voila! All finished!
  • Tip: If you like the floral pattern on your plant pot tower, why not use it to decorate other items in your garden: a zinc watering can, for example (see photo).

Activating your edding deco marker correctly:
  1. Shake the pen firmly with the cap closed.
  2. Pump the pen’s nib carefully up and down on a
piece of scrap paper until ink runs into the nib.

  3. Try a few strokes with the marker on the scrap paper.
  4. Don’t forget to always put the cap on again firmly after use.
