Step-by-step
Step 1
For best results, start by cleaning the porcelain tea light holders with water and washing-up liquid (or in a dishwasher) and then wipe over with methylated spirits. Thorough cleaning is essential for removing any invisible protective film applied during manufacture.
Step 2
The fine brush tip works really well for fine lines, for example the little hearts shown in our example. For thicker lines, use the flat outer part of the brushpen. If you want to apply layers of colour, let the first colour dry before applying the next one as this stops the colours from mixing. You can use our examples as guidance or let your imagination run free with unique designs.
Step 3
Once you've finished your design, leave the candle holders to dry for 15 minutes. Now place the painted item on a cold oven rack, slide it into a pre-heated oven and bake it at 160°C for 25 minutes. Leave in the oven to cool afterwards. After baking, your unique candle holders will be dishwasher-safe.
