Q: What does edding stand for ?

A: Edding markers and writing implements are extraordinarily versatile - they are simple to use and come in bright colours, some of them shiny. Not only that, they have tips to guarantee that your pen will glide smoothly across the paper (or whatever you are writing on), as well as provide an exact stroke. They adhere to virtually any material. They feel equally at home in the factory, the office, at home or in school and make writing, marking and labelling easier. An edding pen is a guarantee of top quality, whilst being as kind to the environment as possible. Every time.

Q: Refilling with cartridges

A: Just pull out the empty cartridge and press in a new cartridge, Shake pen and after approx. 3 minutes it is ready to write again.

Q: Refilling markers with capillary system

A: Simply insert the tip of the marker into the refill bottle and after a few minutes it is ready for writing again.

Q: How to remove ink from different materials

A: Essentially, we cannot give a stock answer to questions on how to remove our ink from various different surfaces. To do this, we need to know the nature of the surface that has been written on as well as the type of pen. On closed surfaces, such as glass, metal or plastic, it is by and large possible to remove our inks using edding V100 thinner. Things become tricky, however, on open surfaces such as paint, concrete, textiles and so on. In such cases, the ink residues get into the pores. More often than not, this means it is only possible to clean away permanent ink using alcohol. In addition, in the case of permanent inks you could always try a ''graffiti killer (spray)'' when cleaning walls, brick or stone (available from Axro GmbH, Hamburg, tel. 0049 40/547110), or in the case of fabrics, try using Dr. Beckmann's stain remover. As a precaution, It is always important to first test the cleaner on the surface to be treated to check it will not damage it. A number of consumers in art-and-craft shops have an agent by the name of Oranex HT, which is supposed to produce successful cleaning results.|ag

Q: Using paint markers

A: 1.) Shake the marker Firstly, before using your pen it is important to give the paint marker a good shake with the cap still on. This - together with the help of the small metal ball in the barrel of the pen - will make sure that the pigments (like all pigments, they tend to sink to one end) can be redistributed evenly within the ink. 2.) Activate your marker by pressing on the tip If you ''pump'' (i.e. press down on) the tip, a valve opens, conveying the ink to the tip of the marker where it perfuses the tip. It may take a few seconds before the ink reaches the tip. Once the tip is saturated with ink it will not be able to absorb any more liquid. If you were to open the valve now, i.e. if you pressed down on the tip, the ink would simply flow over the tip, resulting in blotches. This is why you should always keep writing until the tip is empty before repumping the marker once more. After pumping, write on an absorbent base until you get a smooth flow of ink. 3.) Put the cap back on after use If you leave the cap off for a longer period of time, the ink may evaporate and the tip may dry out. However, the tip will still contain dried-up pigment which will prevent fresh ink from being taken up. For this reason, even if the tip has dried out you should still write with it until the ink is all gone before reactivating the tip. 4.) Replacing the tip It can also be the case that the sensitive tip of the paint marker, particularly in the case of the e-780, can easily become damaged when writing on a rough surface for example, or sometimes the friction of the surface material may block up the fine channels in the tip. The tip of the paint marker has been attached in such a way that it can be changed without problem, because the fine tip will dry out easily if the cap is not replaced after use. In the case of the e-750, we offer spare tips as standard. For the e-751 and the e-780, we have no replaceable tips since it is not worth marketing them. However, we do have some tips available for special requests.

Q: Donations

A: We receive numerous requests every day throughout Germany for support with a whole host of initiatives. For administrative reasons, we are unable meet the many individual wishes we receive. However, once a year we do support a social organisation on a larger scale. We trust that you will appreciate our position in this matter. Nevertheless, we wish you all the best and hope that your planned campaign is successful, and hope too that you have lots of fun with it.|ag
